Peter Freire

Peter Freire is the former Chief Executive Officer of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA), representing the interests of limited partners in private capital funds across the globe. With over 450 members, the ILPA represents over $1 trillion in investable private capital. Across his tenure at the ILPA, Mr. Freire executed a mandate to grow and diversify the organization’s global membership, enhance the value and scale of its research and educational offerings and expand the scope and impact of its voice in the industry.

Prior to joining the ILPA, Mr. Freire was a Managing Director and Member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum (WEF). Before joining the WEF, Mr. Freire had a successful 18-year career at the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), now part of Gartner Inc., where, as a member of the firm’s executive leadership he was responsible for a global portfolio of businesses, principally the Corporate Leadership Council. He was also part of the team that led CEB up to and through its IPO.

Mr. Freire began his career as a commercial banker at Bank of America and later as a consultant at Bain & Co. He earned his BSc. in Economics from the London School of Economics and his MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Fulbright Scholar.

Ted Seides

From 2002 to 2015, Ted was a founder of Protégé Partners LLC and served as President and Co-Chief Investment Officer. Protégé is a leading multibillion dollar alternative investment firm that invests in established small and select emerging hedge funds on an arms-length and seed basis. Ted built the firm’s investment process and managed the sourcing, research, and due diligence of its portfolios. He worked actively with each of Protégé’s 40 seed investments since inception. In 2010, Larry Kochard and Cathleen Ritterheiser profiled Ted in the book “Top Hedge Fund Investors: Stories, Strategies, and Advice.”

Ted began his career in 1992 under the tutelage of David Swensen at the Yale University Investments Office. During his five years at Yale, Ted focused on external public equity managers and internal fixed-income portfolio management. Following business school, he spent two years investing directly at Stonebridge Partners and J.H. Whitney & Company.

Ted writes extensively on the industry. His work includes a blog for the CFA Institute’s Enterprising Investor and publications for the late Peter L. Bernstein’s “Economics and Portfolio Strategy,” Harvard Business School Publishing, FT Alphaville, and Institutional Investor. Ted’s first book, So You Want to Start a Hedge Fund: Lessons for Managers and Allocators (Wiley) is scheduled for release in February 2016.

Ted sits on the Board of Trustees of the Greenwich Roundtable and is a Trustee and member of the investment committee at the Wenner-Gren Foundation. He serves on the Board of Technocademy and previously was a founding Board member of Citizen Schools-New York. He is a Senior Advisor to The Imprint Group, an organization that helps leading investment managers sustain growth by focusing on its people.

Ted holds a BA in economics and political science, Cum Laude, from Yale University and an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School.


Bill Salus

Bill is the Founder of Paddock Consultancy, and most recently held the position of Global Chief Executive Officer for Apex Fund Services.

His responsibilities included the day-to-day running of Apex globally and executing on all strategic initiatives; including expanding Apex’s global presence and product suite.

Bill has over 30 years of experience in sales, management and consulting in the global investment and financial services industry, including holding operating positions throughout Asia.

He was previously Managing Director and Business Executive for BNY Mellon’s asset servicing organization, and helped form their Global Financial Companies structure.

He also held senior positions at PNC Global Investment Servicing, KeyCorp, Security Pacific Bank and Bank of America.

Bill was a member of the ICI International Operations Advisory Committee and the ICI International Committee and was named in Global Custodian magazine’s Securities Services Hall of Fame.

Bill also serves on the Finance Committee for the Ronald McDonald House of Wilmington, DE and is a member of the 2017 Committee of Hearts, Hedge Fund Cares.
